Scholars Day is a special occasion when Wayne State University invites its most promising first-year (freshmen) applicants and their parents to visit campus for a day of interviews, presentations, tours and lunch.Every student who attends Scholars Day becomes a Wayne State Scholar and receives a scholarship of $1,500 a year for four years. Based on the results of a small-group interview and review of a writing sample, along with consideration of grade-point average and test scores, some students will receive increased scholarship offers. Scholars Day students also will be considered for additional private scholarship offers. Students who attend Scholars Day are eligible to apply for admission to the Irvin D. Parent Information Sessions are designed for parents of our newly admitted freshmen that will start WSU in Fall 2009. These sessions were created to provide parents all the information necessary in helping to choose the right college with their son or daughter. We want to make sure that parents are well-informed about approaching deadlines, policies and procedures, and, most importantly, why Wayne State is an excellend educational choice.During the Parent Information Session, parents will learn about the enrollment process, financial aid, housing, and about all the great things happening at WSU and in the city of Detroit.There will be several sessions at the WSU Welcome Center as well as sessions held at both the Birmingham Conference Center and Warren Community Center.
